Christmas Spices

HHF News – December 2008

Happy, Spicy Holidays!
Winter certainly came early this year. It’s pretty cold outside, and we have all the right stuff to heat you up. Don’t forget that we have lots of great last-minute gifts, we can make a custom gift basket in minutes, and sauces or spices make great stocking stuffers! For those of you celebrating Hannukah this week, if you need just one more gift for the seven nights, we have a fine selection of kosher products, including our Peach-Blueberry Merlot Salsa and Jalapeno Olive Relish.

Try our Award-Winning Salsa
We are proud to announce that our own Peach-Blueberry Merlot Salsa won three awards this year: a First place Hot Pepper award, a Second place Scovie award and a Third place Fiery Food Challenge award. We’re looking forward to entering our brand new Jalapeno-Olive Relish in next year’s contests. Pick up a bottle of each in the store today!

New & Featured Products
Sweet Treats: Caramel Corn and Frosted Nuts
We’ve been having fun this fall making Gourmet Caramel Corn in original, Gone Nuts! with peanuts and pecans, Chocolate with Valrhona cocoa and Saigon cinnamon, Jolokia spicy hot, and Santa’s Snack/Winter Treat (chocolate with peppermint sticks). We’ve also ventured into sweet Frosted Nuts in original or spicy.

Entertaining for New Year’s Eve? Don’t forget to pick up all the herbs, spices or sauces you’ll need for a truly memorable meal.
We can help you find just the right dry rub seasoning for steak, brine for turkey, marinade for crown roast or glaze for ham.

Recipes
Mulled Cider
If you’re having guests, nothing is more welcoming than the scent of a warm pot of cider mulling in your kitchen. Just pour a gallon of fresh apple cider in a crock pot and heat. We love the Patterson’s fruit farm brand. Add one packet of our mulling spices and serve when warm. For a pretty effect, poke holes in an orange and push in the cloves from our mulling spice packet. Slice into quarters and float in the cider. And, of course, you can spike your glass with a “wee dram” of rum for extra holiday cheer!
